The remains of the early Gothic St. Christopher’s church, that was destroyed in 1945, are kept as an impressive memorial. Constructed between 1292 and 1325, the ruin, the chancel of which serves as a chapel, still has a late Gothic baptismal font. Johannes Gutenberg is said to have been baptised in it. The modern relief between concrete columns is by the sculptor Heinz Hemrich.
