Old Town

Mainz's Old Town. (Reference: Stadt Mainz)There are people who call the agreeable old town with its narrow, winding streets and alleys the “living room of Mainz”. Everybody immediately feels at home here and can enjoy a bit of the Mainz way of life when strolling through the area. Market

Mainz's Market. (Reference: Stadt Mainz)The Cathedral and Market square mark the centre of the inner city. Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays are the weekly market days with fresh products and the lively atmosphere making it one of the finest in the region. Around the Market and the Gutenberg Museum you will find textile stores, specialist shops and outdoor cafés with a view of the Cathedral. Schusterstrasse with many shoe, sports and textile shops links the Market directly to the pedestrian precinct.

Am Brand

Shopping in Mainz. (Reference: Stadt Mainz)The shopping centre Am Brand, located between the Market, City Hall and Rheingoldhalle is a veritable shopping paradise for modern people. Pedestrian precinct / City Mile

The shopping city's freshly renovated pedestrian precinct extends between Ludwigsstrasse and Grosse Bleiche. The large department stores, up-to-theminute retailers and well sorted specialist shops, speciality shops and stand-up cafés meet your large and small wishes along the City Mile. And Mainz is always good for a surprise: Do not fail to visit the underground Isis and Mater Magna shrine (admission free) in the “Römerpassage” Shopping Centre at the Lotharstrasse entrance that will carry you off into the Roman period.

Main Railway Station/ Bleichen District

linked by the Bleichen district – three streets and many connecting roads full of specialist shops and with the most varied range of services. The centre of this quarter is Neubrunnenplatz with its inviting choice of catering establishments. The Children's Shop Wirth and the Gutenberg Book Store are widely known highlights in this shopping district; the Main Post Office and the freshly renovated Main Station with numerous shops, that are also open on Sundays, important service centres.
