St. Anthony’s, constructed by the Order of St. Anthony in 1331 and taken over by the Poor Clares in 1620, from whom it also has the name “Poor Clare”. The only surviving Gothic ceiling frescos in Mainz are to be found in St. Anthony’s; they were discovered in 1948. There is an organ in the spacious nuns’ gallery which is used by the neighbouring Institute of Church Music for their classes. A Gothic stall for the priest and two deacons and a wall cabinet are to be found in the chancel.
