There you will find also the remains of a late Roman period Gate. The deep excavation is in the immediate area of a round spring-fed well. The Roman Gate dates back to 360 - 370. The gate, together with part of a city wall, were only revealed during the construction of the Wohnforum in 1985. Until now, it is the only Roman gate which has been discovered in Mainz.
