The collection and preservation of natural history objects are two of our main concerns and social responsibilities of the museum. Since the end of World War II, the museum has collected objects related to the natural history of the Rhineland-Palatinate. (link for State collection of Natl. History). We take a modern, encyclopedic approach to maintaining and growing this collection. The museum collection contains 1.5 million objects of scientific and historical value. The size and variety of our collection lends itself to contribute to global research within the fields our collection represents. It is the museum’s task to care for the 1.5 million objects so they are available to future researchers.
