International Award for Braunewell Winery
Mainz and Rheinhessen have also brought an international award to the region! At the Annual Conference of the Great Wine Capitals (GWC) in Mainz on October 28, 2021, the jury presented the international Best of Wine Tourism Award to the Braunewell Winery in Essenheim.
With its high standards in sustainability—reflected in its “fair&green” certification—the family-owned Rheinhessen winery impressed the international jury.
GWC Audience Award—Two Winning Businesses from Mainz!
All national Best of Wine Tourism Award winners—including those from Mainz and Rheinhessen—had the chance to win another prize this year: the People’s Choice Award.
The public worldwide had until November 12 to vote—and now the winning establishments have been announced. Mainz | Rheinhessen stood out in two categories:
The Braunewell Winery won the People’s Choice Award in the “Sustainability in Wine Tourism” category, and Hofgut Wißberg won it in the “Accommodations” category.
