Range of services

The range of services offered by the Addiction Support Department of the City of Mainz includes youth counseling, drug counseling, debt counseling for people who use drugs, low-threshold and survival assistance, crisis support, HCV/HIV/AIDS counseling, addiction prevention, outpatient and semi-inpatient aftercare, and a residential group. The catchment area is the city of Mainz.

In addition to individual counseling and counseling for family members, group services are also offered, primarily at the BRÜCKE youth and drug counseling center. These include SKOLL self-control training for the responsible use of addictive substances and a group for users who want to change. In addition to services for clients, multiplier training courses are offered for colleagues in areas and institutions that overlap with the target groups of addiction support services. One example is Move – motivational brief intervention for young people who use substances.

In addition, volunteers offer "First Legal Aid" regularly every second Monday of the month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the BRÜCKE youth and drug counseling center.

The services are provided in these facilities of the addiction support department:

  • BRÜCKE Youth and Drug Counseling Center – this includes addiction prevention and debt counseling for people suffering from addiction; for users of "legal drugs" (e.g., alcohol, behavioral addictions), there is an age limit of 30 years
  • BASIS housing project, a service for clean addicts in the area of semi-inpatient aftercare
  • Café BALANCE drug help center, a low-threshold and acceptance-oriented service for people who use drugs.

Employees of the Addiction Support Department and its facilities are bound by confidentiality and have the right to refuse to give evidence in accordance with Section 203 of the German Criminal Code (StGB). Clients can also use the counseling services anonymously.
