Culture
Our goals:
- Further developing proven concepts and trying out new ideas.
- Preserve, expand, and complete the city's overall cultural offerings in all their diversity until an appropriate standard is achieved in all areas.
- Make a cultural development plan the basis for future cultural projects, which takes stock of the existing situation, defines goals, sets priorities, and weighs and prepares projects. Use the cultural development plan to enable effective public relations work in the various cultural sectors and for the cultural city of Mainz as a whole.
- Even and especially in times of tight budgets, use the cultural climate in Mainz as an opportunity to create new forms of culture and do everything possible to promote the personal initiative of young artists and those interested in culture.
- Pool cultural resources.
- Develop new forms of cooperation between all cultural providers and educational institutions in order to make the best possible use of capacities and resources and to reach audience groups of different origins and educational backgrounds.
- Develop and test alternative financing models and programs for the long-term involvement of sponsors.
- Develop creative cultural management with the help of the city administration.
- Promote Mainz's cultural life in a clear and distinctive way.
- Effectively market and promote existing offerings. Develop a joint strategy in a knowledgeable manner—across all cultural sectors and independently of the respective sponsors. In doing so, clearly emphasize the distinctive cultural image of the city of Mainz. Make intensive use of electronic information media (the Internet) as well as local radio and television stations.
- Market cultural offerings through central information media. Present the city's comprehensive art and cultural offerings in a clear manner and facilitate communication between artists and institutions.
- Arouse the cultural interest of the public in a special way by creating outstanding and unique events, both through individual events and through themed weeks; here, too, cross-disciplinary and cross-competence action is required.
