The Free Mainz! Spielgemeinschaft e.V. (Pétanque/Boule)
Purpose of the association
Our motto: Yes to "fun in the game" and no to "club politics."
The Freie Mainzer! gaming community has been in existence since 1996. Its goal is to introduce the game played with steel balls, commonly known as pétanque/boules, to an interested public. For us, boules is not least a communicative community game; that's why we enjoy introducing beginners to this wonderful leisure activity and the lifestyle associated with it.
The Freie Mainzer! gaming community welcomes anyone who is interested in helping to promote this leisure activity and present it to a wider audience in the spirit of these principles. Once a year in late summer, we organize a boules tournament, where the main focus is on getting to know the sport and the family-friendly nature of the event.
The players of the Freie Mainzer! gaming community often enjoy participating in away tournaments. Here, too, interested parties have the opportunity to join in and gain experience in competition.
Since 2017, the Freie Mainzer! gaming community has been participating in the PVRLP league.
The Freie Mainzer! meet on Thursdays at 6 p.m. to play on the court at the Zitadelle (near Building C, access via Eisgrubweg – follow the signs). If the court is needed for an event, the alternative venue – usually the court at the "87er Denkmal" below the Zitadelle – will be announced in good time on the Freie Mainzer! Spielgemeinschaft website.
