About the exhibition
As part of our thematic area “Books and printing before Gutenberg” we present you this display as the latest element of our permanent exhibition. Displayed are initials from a painting workshop in Mainz, dating back to the 15th century, which were cut out of a handwritten bible. The quest to find this “slaughtered” volume is documented in this cabinet exhibition.
