Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF)
The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) is the center of expertise for migration and integration in Germany. The Federal Office's range of tasks includes conducting asylum procedures and integration. In addition, the BAMF is also active in the field of migration research.
The asylum procedure determines whether asylum seekers meet the requirements for being granted protection in Germany. Decisions are always made objectively, fairly, and on an individual basis. The decision-makers in the asylum procedure have extensive knowledge of the countries of origin and the applicable legal standards. The decision-makers receive special training in dealing with traumatized refugees or unaccompanied children.
If protection is granted or there are very good prospects of protection, the BAMF creates the fundamental basis for successful integration. To this end, integration courses are held in which participants learn not only the German language, but also about life in Germany and the values and norms of our society.
