Introducing the volunteer alliance
For years, numerous organizations in Mainz have been working on a voluntary basis to help refugees integrate into our city. In particular, voluntary support for refugees in the form of sponsorship, guidance, and mentoring offers a sustainable approach to integration, as it focuses on human contact. This makes it easier to overcome challenges such as language acquisition, finding a job, and looking for accommodation. In this way, volunteers support and complement the full-time structures and also create additional opportunities in the areas of education and social participation that would not be possible without them. In recent years, numerous initiatives, associations, and volunteer groups run by charitable organizations have been founded in various districts of the city, providing good structures and contact points for volunteer work with refugees. To support and stabilize these activities, the Volunteer Alliance for Refugee Work – Together for Integration in Mainz was founded in 2018 and has since pursued the goal of providing sustainable support for the activities of the organizations and recruiting new volunteers in the public sphere. An important goal of the alliance is to find new volunteers for the sponsorship, guidance, and mentoring projects active in Mainz, as these make an important contribution to the integration of refugees into our society. The Volunteer Alliance appreciates your interest! In the brochure below (PDF), 24 organizations introduce themselves and give you an insight into their work.
