Declaration on accessibility

TVM Mainz GmbH strives to fully comply with the requirements of the current version of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Mainz.de and the website www.tvm.mainz.de are largely compliant with the current accessibility guidelines (BITV 2.0, 2019/WCAG 2.1).
The HTML code is generated by the content management system used for Mainz.de in accordance with the rules for accessible web design (BITV 2.0). The front-end code (HTML and CSS) is validated according to W3C specifications. Special functions for changing the font size and a special contrast mode are not implemented, as these functions are already provided by browsers or individual assistive technologies.
A special feature of accessibility on Mainz.de and the www.tvm.mainz.de website is the integration of a text-to-speech solution that enables all content on the central online offering, including microsites, to be read aloud without the need for individual assistive devices.

In the summer of 2021, the Digital Accessibility Competence Center at Stuttgart Media University was commissioned to conduct a BIK BITV test. The abbreviation BIK stands for Barrierefreie Information und Kommunikation (Barrier-Free Information and Communication). The BIK BITV test is a procedure for comprehensively and reliably testing the accessibility of websites and web applications based on BITV 2.0 / EN 301 549. The BIK BITV test checks 32 additional test steps of EN 301 549. Ten
pages were tested. The specific selection of pages to be tested was made independently by the testing agency. Result: The BIK BITV criteria, which go beyond the WCAG 2.1 standard, are largely met on the tested pages. Among other things, the test revealed a need for further work in terms of contrasts, icon sizes, the avoidance of font graphics, the adaptability of text spacing, alternative texts for control elements, the use of HTML structural elements, and the structuring of content.
The test results, which have been documented in detail and explained in discussions, will now be used as a basis for further work on the accessibility of mainz.de as part of the relaunch planned for 2025.

TVM Mainz GmbH wants www.tvm.mainz.de to be accessible to everyone.
We therefore strive to ensure accessibility in our daily editorial processes.  This includes, for example: generally understandable language, clear text structures, the appropriate use of tables, the conscientious use of CMS functions for the correct marking of links and abbreviations with corresponding HTML tags, the technically mandatory marking of images and graphics with alternative text, descriptive file names, and much more.
Our employees keep their knowledge of accessibility up to date and adapt it as necessary.

The content listed below is not fully accessible in accordance with the exception based on disproportionate burden under Article 5 of Directive (EU) 2016/2102:

• PDF documents (for the most part) as well as media in other file formats (e.g., Word)
• Videos
• Audio files
• Content in plain language and sign language is still being expanded

TVM Mainz GmbH is working to further expand its accessible offerings.
