Opening hours, accessibility and offers of the district libraries
Get to know what our libraries in five Mainz districts have to offer.
The district libraries in Gonsenheim, Weisenau, Hechtsheim, Mombach, and Lerchenberg offer Mainz residents media and information resources close to where they live. At the same time, they serve as a gateway to the Mainz library system with its wide range of services.
The neighborhood libraries offer:
- Collections for children
- Fiction
- Guidebooks and non-fiction on leisure activities and practical issues (limited selection)
- Guided tours for daycare centers and elementary schools
- Media kits
The neighborhood libraries collaborate closely and ensure that the media they offer remains up-to-date through the regular exchange of their collections.
Please note the limited opening hours of four neighborhood libraries during the summer break from June 28 to August 7, 2026. During this period, the following branches will be open only one day a week: Hechtsheim on Mondays, Lerchenberg on Tuesdays, Weisenau on Wednesdays, and Mombach on Thursdays. The Central Library and the Gonsenheim neighborhood library will be open during their regular hours.
