Encouraging citizen participation
In Mainz, the state capital, residents aged 14 and older can actively propose citizen participation initiatives. Find out how you can propose a new public participation initiative or call for “more” participation in existing projects (www.mainz.de/vorhabenliste). On this page, you’ll find all the important information about the process.
We would be delighted if you would send us your suggestions via this online service:
Your suggestion for citizen participation will be processed by the Coordination Office for Citizen Participation and coordinated within the city administration. Provided there are no reasons against it (e.g., the project is not within the scope of the state capital of Mainz, the project is already too far advanced), your suggestion for citizen participation will be posted online on the website of the state capital of Mainz. Please note: Your first name and last name will be included in this publication. Residents can then declare their support for the project via another online service. Each project requires 200 supporters from Mainz.
If 200 Mainz residents declare their support within eight weeks, the relevant department will work with the coordination office for citizen participation to draft a resolution for the city council. The final decision on implementing the citizen participation initiative you have proposed will be made at the next regular city council meeting.
