Logo and coat of arms

A distinction is made between the figurative word mark (also known as the logo) and the city coat of arms of the state capital Mainz.

Logo variants state capital Mainz

The image and word mark is the core of the current image of the state capital Mainz. It stands for high recognition and identification.

The logo consists of the modified Mainz city coat of arms, adapted to the typography, a vertical line, and the Meta Normal and Meta Medium fonts. It is usually displayed in two colors, red and black, on a white background, and converted to grayscale for black-and-white representation.

The logo is placed on all city publications such as business documents, information brochures, signs, etc. It stands for all administrative matters of the state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate.

The coat of arms, the line, and the lettering form a single unit. No changes to the logo are permitted. Enlargements and reductions may only be made in the same aspect ratio. In principle, every reproduction of the image and word mark must be approved. The relevant template files are available on the Internet/intranet or from the Public Relations Department of the Main Office.

Note on
use: Use of the coat of arms is the sole responsibility of Mainz City Council, which must give its consent for the coat of arms to be used by third parties.

Only public authorities and institutions may use the official coat of arms. It is a state emblem.

Associations, companies, clubs, and other institutions often ask the city administration if they may use the city coat of arms. In such cases, the city administration of Mainz provides a slightly modified coat of arms free of charge. This may be used upon request and only after official approval by the main office, department of committees and services.
