My favorite letter is the Q. Gerhard Steidl.

About the exhibition
The Gutenberg Museum presents the pop-up exhibition "My favorite letter is Q. Gerhard Steidl" on the occasion of the presentation of the 2020 Gutenberg Prize to the renowned printer and publisher Gerhard Steidl.
In this exhibition, Steidl explores the mystery of writing and writing culture: for him, too, the full beauty of letters unfolds in printed books or posters.
Printer and publisher Gerhard Steidl loves exquisite typefaces and pays careful attention to the typographic quality of all printed products manufactured by him. Steidl has a particular interest in the letter "Q," to which the exhibition is dedicated.
However, as a rare letter, the "Q" seems to defy all economic constraints, inviting downright joyful anarchy in many fonts. Above all, the so-called cauda, the tail of the capital letter, has inspired font designers to create countless variations. This exhibition shows the capital Q, placed at the center and all by itself: images of a letter.
