Printing demonstrations on the Gutenberg press
Experience firsthand how printing was done in Johannes Gutenberg’s day during a 15-minute demonstration.

Film screenings
Several times a day, the Gutenberg Museum shows two films about Johannes Gutenberg in its cinema.
Public museum tours
The one-hour guided tour of the Gutenberg Museum includes a demonstration of the historic printing press and a viewing of the original Gutenberg Bibles in the vault.
The tour is conducted by the tour guides of the state capital Mainz from mainzplus CITYMARKETING (opens in a new tab).
Advance registration is required for the tours.
Time:
High season (May through October): Saturdays at 11:45 a.m.
Low season (November through April): once a month
Cost: €14 / reduced €12 / children up to and including 8 years old free (plus admission)

Family Saturday
The exciting children’s tour “Of Dancing Letters and Colorful Leaves,” designed for children ages 6 and up and their accompanying adult(s), is led by a museum educator and tailored to the children’s age group. As part of a printing activity, participants can also try their hand at printing.
Every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, 2:00–4:00 p.m.
Meeting point: 2 p.m., museum ticket office (Gutenberg Shop, Pavilion)
Cost: Museum admission. A workshop fee applies for the printing activity (3 euros per child)
