Natural History Museum Mainz
From May 8 - new special exhibition: FLORA. When miracles grow from roots.
The multimedia exhibition FLORA explores the complex relationship between humans, health, and nature.
It was curated by students at Mainz University of Applied Sciences and developed through an interdisciplinary collaboration with the Natural History Museum and the Gutenberg Museum.
Interactive, artistic, and sensory stations offer visitors diverse approaches to the themes. Through the interplay of digital formats with books and herbariums, historical knowledge, scientific findings, and current issues regarding climate change and declining biodiversity are brought together.
In times of now clearly noticeable climate change and rapidly advancing species extinction, the work of a natural history museum as a research and educational institution is becoming increasingly important. As databases of nature, natural history collections make an important contribution to climate and biodiversity research and are therefore of great significance for the future of society. The Natural History Museum Mainz thus contributes significantly to the "public understanding of science" and promotes dialogue between science and the public.
