I think I'm standing in the woods!
New media station on "Diversity in the forest"
As part of "museum4punkt0 (opens in a new tab)– Digital Strategies for the Museum of the Future," we have collaborated with the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History in Görlitz (SMNG) to develop an interactive media station that allows you to take a closer look at various forest dwellers!
What makes it special is that we combine analog and digital elements! Thirty-three animal and plant specimens are cast in synthetic resin – they are called "pucks." These are finds that you are probably familiar with from walks in the forest and which we also keep in our scientific collections.
Not all dung beetles are the same!
The pucks are read by the sensor plate using RFID technology, and the relevant information appears on the monitors. High-resolution photos allow you to discover the similarities and differences between the species.
Test your wild knowledge!
Now it's your turn: You can try out the media station during museum opening hours and get a glimpse behind the scenes of our museum. Our staff will be happy to help you.
