Siren and warning signals
Sirens are an important warning system in the state capital of Mainz. They alert people to a potential danger. On this page, you’ll learn about the different siren signals, what they mean, and how you should respond when you hear a signal.
The Siren Network in Mainz
The siren network of the state capital of Mainz underwent a comprehensive upgrade between 2024 and 2026. As part of this project, 36 new high-performance electronic sirens were installed. There are now a total of 75 sirens available throughout the city.
The sirens are part of Mainz’s multi-channel warning system. They can be triggered in groups to target specific areas or larger sections of the city. This allows for the fastest and most targeted response to potential dangers.
