Mainz City Volunteer Fire Brigade
The Mainz-Stadt Volunteer Fire Department has been in existence since 1849 and is therefore the founding fire department in Mainz.
Since 2014, it has been located together with the professional fire department in the new building complex of Fire Station 2 on Rheinallee. From there, its 35 firefighters cover the districts of Altstadt and Neustadt as well as parts of the industrial area, Oberstadt, and Hartenberg. They primarily support the professional fire department at night and on weekends in fire, hazardous materials, rescue, and water rescue operations, or provide backup at Fire Station 2 during longer absences of the professional fire department.
They also man the professional fire department's multi-purpose boat when necessary.
In their youth fire department, dedicated supervisors look after young people aged 10 and above.

Support association
The support association, which was founded in 1997, is led by a young and dedicated board.
They provide financial and material support to the active members in terms of additional clothing, invest in training and further education, and engage in public relations work.
The youth fire brigade is particularly close to their hearts. Traditionally, a professional fire brigade day is organized every year, during which young people can experience "real firefighting life" for 24 hours. They also provide financial support for a camping trip and a fun competition.
