Islamic burial culture in Mainz can now look back on decades of tradition: the Muslim burial ground was established in the northwestern part of the Mombach Forest Cemetery in the 1970s and has since been expanded several times. The site is self-contained and intended solely for deceased persons of the Muslim faith. The graves are oriented toward Mecca. A children's burial ground is integrated into the site.
