In 2011, the “Gasilhane”—the building used for the ritual washing of the deceased—was inaugurated, thereby fulfilling another long-cherished wish of Mainz’s Muslim community.

The aesthetically designed and generously equipped building is available virtually without restriction in the event of a death. Funeral homes have access around the clock, every day of the year, even without having to make an appointment in advance. This saves time. This is particularly true when the funeral is to take place in another country and the deceased must be transported there. It goes without saying that in such a case, we charge only the fee for using the ‘Gasilhane’ (€100).
