I know what can go in there. Do you?
What should actually be flushed down the toilet and what shouldn't? The answer to this question seems so simple—but apparently it isn't. Otherwise, all the things that should never end up at our sewage treatment plant in Mainz-Momach wouldn't be arriving there.
Because pocket tissues, kitchen towels, baby wipes, disinfectant wipes, and wet wipes, as well as hair, cotton swabs, food scraps, condoms, oils, sanitary napkins, fats, etc., not only serve as a food source for rats or harm the environment, they are also all insoluble in water and can therefore clog drains and cause sewage pumps to shut down. And that gets expensive. Not for us, but ultimately possibly for you too. After all, we are financed by your fees.
So: Help us, the environment, and your wallet. Make sure that only things that actually belong in the toilet end up there. Tips on what to put in and why can be found in the table at the bottom of the page, which is available for download. And if you still have questions, just ask. That's what we're here for.
