Mainz Monument Preservation Prize
The Monument Preservation Award honors citizens who have made an outstanding contribution to the preservation of architectural monuments on their own initiative.
It sets an example and highlights the importance of building owners' commitment to all citizens. The Mainz Monument Preservation Award emerged from the facade competition launched by the city of Mainz in 1973 to recognize private commitment in the field of building renovation. Against the backdrop of the difficult budgetary situation in the mid-1990s, this facade competition could not be continued.
However, the Rheinhessen Chamber of Crafts and the Sparkasse Mainz stepped in to fill the gap. As a result, the Mainz Monument Preservation Award can now be presented every two years. However, it does not only apply to facades, but to all trades that are important in the context of maintenance and renovation.
The Rheinhessen Chamber of Crafts presents the current award-winning properties in detail on its website.
