Shopping in the Große Langgasse - around Dr.-Gisela-Thews-Platz

The stores in the new Große Langgasse invite you to go shopping. Dr.-Gisela-Thews-Platz - coming from Ludwigsstraße directly at the beginning of the Große Langgasse - gives a nice foretaste. mainzMagazin visited three stores in the area around the new place to linger.

Pure luxury

Tasteful elegance can be found on the corner of Ludwigsstraße and Große Langgasse: jeweler Leo Link stands for luxury through and through. An in-house Rolex workshop guarantees a fast, uncomplicated repair service.

If you are looking for special pieces of jewelry, take a look at the high-quality range of necklaces, rings, and more. Hans D. Krieger's brilliant jewelry is characterized by exquisite, unique pieces that make a sparkling impression – crafted in the traditional manufactory in Idar-Oberstein. Managing Director Leonard Link offers everything related to flawless jewelry pearls with his Schoeffel creations. Designer Tamara Comolli's collection stands for unique combinations of precious gemstones with different shades of gold.

Hectic is a foreign word here. Upon entering the store, the professionally trained sales team offers each customer individual service in a relaxed atmosphere. Cooled towels with a lime and mint scent in summer and warmed towels with a cinnamon or baked apple scent in winter leave no doubt as to who is king here. "Every customer who enters our store should leave happy and satisfied. That is our daily goal," sums up Elke Riemenschnitter, the assistant store manager.

To flowery times

A few steps further on, it's worth stopping at the Blumenkremer florist's. Here, not all flowers are created equal. Owner Stefan Kremer's creations speak a different language depending on the occasion. Simple and elegant for the office or living room table. Lush, pompous, or completely classic for special celebrations. The floral decorations created with dedication by the company, which has been in business for 20 years, are versatile. Names such as "flower cakes" or "plant nests" reveal the attention to detail. Kremer selects his flowers daily at the market.

Anyone looking for complete packages for floral decorations at weddings or other large events will find what they are looking for: from table decorations to floral decorations on the car or cake to individual bridal decorations.

But Kremer's range includes more than just flowers. Stylish ceramic, wicker, or resin pots complement every floral gift. Handcrafted unique pieces and mouth-blown glassware are also available as decorative gift alternatives. Smart home accessories such as punching bags or classic furnishings such as lamps and picture frames are also waiting to be discovered.

Playful

Continuing towards Große Bleiche, a colourfully decorated shop window on the corner of Spritzengasse immediately catches the eye: Merlin's toy shop. The shop is as colourful on the outside with its decorative stars, wind chimes and figures as it is diverse on the inside.

Classic board and card games such as chess, rummy, and backgammon are part of the basic selection. In addition to cult games, there are also seasonal, selected novelties on the shelves. Hubert Schönherr, who has been running the store for 30 years, is always on the lookout for unusual formats. Puzzle and logic games, such as the popular escape room games, make even trained minds ponder. Role-playing games for the thrill of a murder mystery dinner or for exciting journeys into fantastic worlds with friends are also available.

But there's also outdoor fun to be had: kites, boules balls, throwing discs, Viking chess, and juggling sets – bring on those beautiful late summer days.
