Draiser depression
The Draiser Senke is located in the state capital of Mainz between the districts of Drais and Lerchenberg. Many fruit trees grow here, which are covered in blossom in spring.
The smallest suburb of Mainz, Drais, is characterized by fruit and vegetable cultivation. Cherries, apples, pears, asparagus, strawberries, and even peaches grow in the fields and orchards around the town. A walk through the so-called "Draiser Senke" between the suburbs of Drais and Lerchenberg is particularly recommended in summer.
The wide fields and old fruit trees also invite you to cycle or linger on park benches – because visitors can enjoy a wide and beautiful view over Mainz from here.

From the Draiser Senke, you can quickly reach the rainwater retention basin on Lerchenberg, located below the high-rises on Regerstraße. Better known to people of all ages is the beautiful green space on Lerchenberg, a popular spot for local recreation, known as the "Duck Pond."
