Fair Trade City supports BlechWech Foundation - Collect with us!

The Fairtrade City Campaign supports the BlechWech Foundation from Cologne. In Mainz, crown caps can now be handed in at the environmental store - good for the environment and good for a social cause.

What do crown caps have to do with sustainability, support for the needy and Mainz?

Since 2018, the BlechWech Foundation in Cologne has been collecting bottle caps from private individuals, restaurants, and other sources to reduce waste in our environment and do good at the same time. To this end, collection containers have been set up in Cologne and now throughout Germany, which—as soon as they are full—are transported to various recycling companies and recycled. The equivalent value of the material is donated directly to SOS Children's Villages worldwide and used to finance vaccines at the mother-child clinic. This protects the environment and supports a great social project at the same time.

This initiative is now also being supported in Mainz: the
central collection point is the Umweltladen (environmental shop) in Steingasse. Collected bottle caps can be handed in here, and Fair Trader will arrange for them to be transported to Cologne.
