EURO key for disabled toilets

Here you will find information on how to use the EURO key.

Many public disabled toilets are equipped with a standard locking system that can be used with a so-called EURO key. Authorized persons can purchase this key for a small fee. In Mainz, this is possible through the Commit Club.

The Commit Club verifies that the key is only given to people with disabilities who are dependent on accessible toilets. These would be:

  • people with severe walking disabilities
  • wheelchair users
  • ostomates
  • blind people
  • People with severe disabilities who are in need of assistance and may require a caregiver
  • People with multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and people with chronic bladder/intestinal disorders

In any case, you will receive a key if you have a degree of disability (GdB) of at least 80 on your severely disabled person's pass, or 70% plus the G mark. If you have the aG, B, H, or BL marks, you will receive the key regardless of your GdB.

Orders for more than three keys will only be processed if they are placed by an association, self-help group, or organization, provided that these are verifiably non-profit.
