With just over 100 members, 1. Roundnet Verein Mainze.V. is the third-largest roundnet club in Germany for the up-and-coming trend sport roundnet, also known as spikeball. The sport comes from the USA and is played 2 vs. 2 on a round net standing on the ground, with rules similar to beach volleyball.

Since its founding in May 2021, the club has been a hub for all competitive and recreational players who want to play roundnet. The club and the sport are growing steadily and already have 100 members as of 2024. In addition to league play in the winter in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga as well as the regional league, the club's members are also successful in many tournaments throughout Germany in all performance classes in the summer. In 2024, one of the club's players is also in the national squad for the World Championships in London, and one of the club's players is part of the men's national coaching team. In 2024, the "Meenzer Owlies" are hosting the German Championships in mixed, men's, and women's competitions.
