Sports development planning of the state capital Mainz
How sporty is Mainz? - The city has analyzed the sports behavior of schools, clubs and citizens as part of its sports development planning. The sports development plan is now available and can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
In June 2024, the state capital of Mainz launched its new sports development plan. The aim was to tailor the development of sports facilities and exercise areas in the city to the needs of the population and user groups and to adapt them to current challenges.
The Institute for Sports Facility Development (ISE) in Trier was commissioned to draw up the sports development plan.
The study consists of various components. It began with an analysis of the current sports facilities and a survey of their utilization. This was followed by a needs and development analysis, including a representative population survey, surveys of sports clubs and schools (school sports), and numerous expert interviews.
The final report, containing specific recommendations for action and measures for a sustainable sports landscape in the state capital of Mainz, has been available since fall 2025.
