Kobushi magnolia
In contrast to our latitudes, where the Kobushi magnolia usually only grows to a height of 10 meters, it can reach a height of up to 25 meters in its natural habitat. In its Asian homeland, it also functions as a stately forest tree, whereas in Germany it is only found sporadically in parks or larger gardens.
Regardless of whether it is found in Korea or Germany, it is extremely frost-hardy. The Kobushi magnolia is one of the most cold-resistant of all Asian species and can tolerate temperatures below –30 °C without apparent damage.
