Location and logistics

Mainz is a thriving economic center thanks to its central location and excellent transport links. In the Rhine-Main region, Mainz benefits from its proximity to the major cities of Wiesbaden, Darmstadt, and Frankfurt am Main.
Mainz has excellent transport connections thanks to the motorway network (A60, A63 with connections to the A3, A5, A61, and A67), the well-developed rail network with connections to local and long-distance transport, its location on the Rhine for shipping, and the nearby airports in Frankfurt am Main and Hahn. This makes Mainz an attractive location for business and tourism.
More than 75,000 people commute to the state capital of Mainz every day. Some of them come from Berlin, as Mainz is an important political location for the state of Rhineland-Palatinate as its capital.
Container port Mainz
Mainz is located on the Rhine, one of Germany's most important waterways. As a modern interface between inland waterway transport, rail, and road transport, the container port of Mainz offers optimal conditions for economical and environmentally friendly freight transport. The port area covers an area of approximately 30 hectares and has excellent transport connections.
Equipped with a container gantry crane, a RoRo facility, and a portal crane, the port meets all modern requirements. Not least, its central location in relation to the city and its convenient and cost-effective transport links make it the busiest inland port on the Rhine. In a nationwide comparison, the Mainz container port ranks among the top inland ports in terms of total throughput volume. Stadtwerke Mainz AG (Port Division) and Ernst Frankenbach GmbH are available to assist you.
Industrial estates Mainz
The container port borders the Mainz-Mombach industrial and commercial area, which has excellent infrastructure connections. In addition, there are other commercial areas in the city that offer ideal conditions for logistics and manufacturing companies. Some of these areas allow 24-hour operation (Section 8 of the German Land Use Ordinance). The properties also have wide roads and are connected to the broadband network.
Companies from numerous sectors such as trade, crafts, manufacturing, logistics, research and development, and services are represented in the designated commercial and industrial areas. This mix of industries creates synergies!
