This includes freely accessible media ("open access areas" in the regional library and research library) and many media located in the magazine. Media published before 1900, all handwritten material, rare items

The loan period is usually 4 weeks. You can renew this period twice. However, renewal is not always possible, e.g. if the item has already been reserved by someone else.

You can renew loans by the due date at the latest under "User Data" in the online catalog. To log in, you need the number on the green side of your library card and your password (default: your date of birth as a 6-digit number – DDMMYY). Alternatively, you can also renew by phone at +49 6131 12-2652 or by email at stb.ausleihestadt.mainzde. The loan period will be extended by four weeks (calculated from the day on which you renew).

page, enter your library card number (green page) and your password (default: your date of birth as a 6-digit number – DDMMYY) and submit the reservation. 
As soon as the reserved title is available for you, you will receive an email to the email address stored in your library account. A reservation costs €0.60.

Click on "Order" for the desired title in the online catalog and select the desired pickup location. The ordered media will be available for you there for 14 days.

Orders are usually retrieved directly from the magazine for you. Exceptions are items that are stored in the alternative magazine. The alternative magazine is normally accessed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The books you have ordered will then be available on Wednesday or Friday.

Media ordered from the magazines will be made available for you to pick up at the circulation desk. Freely accessible, borrowable media can be taken directly from the shelves and brought to the circulation desk. Upon presentation of your library card, the media will be recorded on your borrowing account.

Late fees will be charged per item and per week or part thereof that the item is overdue. Fees will also be charged for the first and second reminders per borrowed item. Please refer to the Terms of Use and Fee Schedule for the amount of the fees.
