Your application

All applications for vacancies in our daycare centers are managed centrally by the Human Resources department.

Therefore, please do not apply to individual daycare centers, but directly to the City of Mainz (as described below), as your application may otherwise be submitted multiple times.

For daily or weekly internships, please apply directly to the daycare center of your choice.

Documents in digital form

In order to process your application as quickly as possible, we require the documents in digital form.

If you send us a traditional application folder by mail, we will first have to scan the applications in order to process them, which takes additional time. For you, this type of application also involves additional costs for paper, ink, and the application folder.

It is therefore better to apply via our application portal (opens in a new tab).

Of course, we also accept your application in paper form (Landeshauptstadt Mainz, Hauptamt, Postfach 3820, 55028 Mainz) or by email (du-fehlst-unsstadt.mainzde). However, we can process online applications faster and more easily, so you will receive feedback on your application from us more quickly.

Important note:

For security reasons, we cannot accept applications that are sent to us as a download link or as a ZIP file via email. Therefore, when applying by email, please send all documents in PDF format, preferably in a single file.

What documents do we need?

Your application must include the following information:

Your contact details, including:

Last name and first name
Address
Phone number (mobile, landline, or both)
Email address (important! - most of the process will be handled via email)

A complete resume with:

Date of birth
Marital status
A complete overview of your career to date

Information for further planning:

how many hours you would like to work (full-time, part-time with a certain number of hours),
the age of the children you would like to work with,
when you are available to start work.

Additional documents:

Proof of your educational qualification(s)
Certificates (school certificates, if these are current/you have just left school; certificate from your last employer, etc.)
Optional: additional documentation, e.g., internship certificates, proof of further training, volunteer work, etc.

2. procedure of the application process

Once your application has been received by the Human Resources department, you will receive confirmation of receipt. Your documents will then be reviewed.

Please ensure that your documents are complete, as otherwise processing may take longer because additional documents will have to be requested for further review (see section "Applying correctly").

If your application has caught our interest, you will receive an invitation to an interview (usually by email).

This takes the form of a group interview.

The applicant panel is led by a small selection of daycare center managers and deputy managers who currently have vacancies in their facilities. Since there are a large number of daycare centers, not all colleagues with vacancies can be present, so we also offer you positions in daycare centers that are not currently represented in the panel.

When selecting daycare centers, your preferred hours and age groups will be taken into account within the scope of current possibilities.
