Printing history

The collection on the history of printing brings together printing presses and machines from five centuries, tools for type production, and documents on typography. In addition, the collection includes extensive holdings on the development of bookbinding and paper.

From the printing press to the book cover

The collection highlights technical aspects of printing history and documents the further development of printing technology after Gutenberg in the form of printing presses and printing machines. In addition to type specimens that document changes in the field of typography, the exhibits worth seeing include around 70,000 book covers and an extensive paper collection.
