In the shade of the vine leaves...
In Germany's largest city and largest wine-growing region, it is now possible to be buried among the vines – affectionately known as "Schorlegräber" (wine grave). To this end, Mainz's municipal utility company has planted nine vines in five rows on a slope in the Laubenheim district cemetery, providing space for a total of 72 urn graves and 36 urn row graves.
