Fashion Revolution Week 2026 in the public library - Anna Seghers

The Anna Seghers Public Library is delighted to be taking part in Fashion Revolution Week 2026 this year in collaboration with the "fair. friends mainz" alliance. The aim of the campaign is to create more transparency and sustainability in the fashion industry.

Fashion Revolution Week is held annually to commemorate the anniversary of the Rana Plaza collapse on April 24, 2013, which claimed the lives of more than 1,100 people. The disaster has since been regarded as one of the worst in the history of the textile industry.

Against this backdrop, the Public Library also wishes to advocate for greater sustainability in the fashion industry and take a clear stand against exploitation. Therefore, from April 1 to 30, there will be a themed book display on topics such as recycling, the environmental and social impacts of the fast fashion industry, upcycling, and much more.

In addition, from April 21 to 24, the Public Library – Anna Seghers will host a clothing swap event on its premises as a highlight. Clothing racks will be provided where well-preserved clothing can be dropped off and other items taken in exchange.

The event thus sends a message about resource conservation and promotes the extended use of textiles.

As places of sharing and communal use, libraries have always been closely associated with the idea of passing things on and reusing them, which is why their commitment to greater sustainability is particularly fitting in this context.
