What Is Likely Germany's Fastest-Built New School Opens
The state capital of Mainz has officially opened the expansion of the Integrierte Gesamtschule Europa (IGS Europa) in Mainz-Hechtsheim. The four-story building, with a gross floor area of approximately 3,860 square meters, provides space for modern classrooms for about 300 students.
The modular extension was constructed by ALHO Systembau GmbH, acting as the general contractor, using a modular steel construction method. Eight months elapsed between the award of the contract and the handover; the actual construction period was only 18 weeks. This makes IGS Europa Mainz likely the fastest-built new school in Germany. The state capital’s investment amounts to approximately 15 million euros.
