Binger Straße has been reopened to traffic in both directions since August 8
After a closure lasting about two years—during which Binger Straße was rebuilt to include a new tram line and the underground infrastructure was upgraded to accommodate connections and utility lines—this important thoroughfare is about to open to traffic.
This marks the end of the complex renovation phase on Binger Straße—the Mainz City Department of Motor Vehicles has now completed all functional tests of the traffic control systems with positive results. Binger Straße will therefore reopen to vehicle traffic in both directions starting early Saturday morning, August 8, at 7 a.m.
Janina Steinkrüger, Head of the Mobility Department: “A long period of unavoidable restrictions is now coming to an end—both the city administration and Mainzer Mobilität would like to thank all residents and business owners in the area for their perseverance and great patience during this time, which has not always been easy. Once the overall traffic flow on Binger Straße has settled into a routine and gained momentum, it will become clear that the result is impressive and represents a benefit for all road users.”
