Folk festival on the banks of the Rhine: 9th Mainzer Rheinfrühling from March 28 - April 12, 2026
Head of Economic Affairs Manuela Matz: "Attractions for all generations"
It’s that time of year again: the Mainz Rhine Spring Festival kicks off this Saturday! Manuela Matz, Head of the Economic Affairs Department, will open the festival on the banks of the Rhine between Kaisertor and Mainz Pegel (near the Kurfürstenbrunnen) on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 4 p.m. at the “Grand Soleil” Ferris wheel (Göbel). “I’m really looking forward to this year’s Rheinfrühling, which once again offers many attractions for all generations. There’s something for every guest—from rides to various activities for children to delicious treats. I hope that this year, too, many people from near and far will come to the Rhine and have a great time here,” explains Head of Economic Affairs Manuela Matz.
Once again, attractive highlights await visitors at the Rheinfrühling. For instance, you can feel the spring breeze on your face in the Ferris wheel and the "Superwellenflug" (Nickel), or embark on a spooky journey in the "Haunted Mansion" (Hinzen KG). New additions this year include the "Himalaya" music express (Marlo Husar), the 40-meter-high "Sugar Rush" chain flyer (Alexander Zinnecker), and the "Rock & Roll" upside-down ride (Ronny Deinert), as well as the already well-known and popular XL swing (Anja Goetzke), all of which promise thrills.
The classics of a folk festival are also represented—bumper cars (Rudolf Barth) and the popular Break Dance (Wingender). Younger visitors can look forward to the "Ring Renner" children’s roller coaster (Wingender), the "Magic World" (Marco Sottile) and "Samba Balloon" (Barth GbR) carousels, the "Eurocar" (Marco Sottile) and "Traumlandreise" (Sascha Barth) children’s looping rides, and a windscreen wiper ride (Nickel).
Among the fun and game stalls, in addition to claw machines, can throwing, and the shooting gallery, the popular "Catch the Fish" game provides entertainment for the little ones.
The diverse selection of culinary specialties rounds out the festival experience.
Family Day, held every Wednesday, draws visitors to the beautiful banks of the Rhine with discounted prices and surprises. Additionally, there will be fireworks after dark on March 28, 2026, and April 11, 2026.
