Of Hunters and Gatherers

The "Ferienforscher" summer program at the Natural History Museum in Mainz is looking for curious kids

This October, children can become real researchers during the fall break at the Natural History Museum in Mainz (nhm). This year, the museum’s education team will take participating children back to the Stone Age. This era is so named because the people living at that time primarily made and used tools and weapons out of stone.

How did people live back then, and how did hunter-gatherers forage for food? These and many other questions will be answered in the “Vacation Researchers” program titled “Hunters & Gatherers.” During this journey of discovery, participants will craft, explore, and experiment—all centered on the Stone Age and the people who mastered their daily lives with ingenious tools and materials. Through artifacts and an imaginative program, Stone Age life is brought back to life.

The program is offered on October 6, 7, and 8, as well as on October 13, 14, and 15. The program runs from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The price is 20 euros per person, including admission.

Anyone wishing to secure one of these highly sought-after spots can register now at buchung.nhmstadt.mainzde or by phone at 06131-12 29 13.
