The Mobility Department of the State Capital of Mainz would like to note, as a precaution, that starting Monday, September 28, initial preparatory work will begin on and around the elevated bridge to pave the way for the planned demolition of the dilapidated structure in individual stages, proceeding from north to south.

To this end, preliminary work in the form of initial milling operations will take place on the bridge. While the noise from this work will be audible in the surrounding area, it will not result in any road closures or other disruptions in the vicinity. The milling work is part of the preparatory activities needed to ensure that demolition work can begin on schedule in January 2027. 

The Transportation Authority will provide separate information prior to the start of the project regarding the exact start date—scheduled for January 2027—as well as the detailed sequence of the demolition, which will proceed step by step. At that time, any necessary road closures will also be announced.
