The Education Office of the state capital Mainz combines supraregional education topics with specific local needs. It supports authorities, institutions, associations, and many other education stakeholders in developing joint solutions and implementing education projects in a targeted, coordinated, and forward-looking manner. This creates fair opportunities for education and social participation for everyone in Mainz.

Education planning and monitoring are part of the Education Office of the state capital Mainz and help to actively steer and accompany this process.

The state capital Mainz will receive funding between 2023 and 2028 as part of the Education Communities program run by the Federal Ministry for Education, Family, Seniors, Women, and Youth (BMBFSFJ).

The aim is to jointly shape, improve, and make education more equitable at the local level. The municipal educational landscape is undergoing strategic development through coordinated educational planning, data-based educational monitoring, and strong local networks.

In Mainz, the program is being implemented under the title BILMA – Education in Mainz. The project is managed by Anna Michael, municipal education planner. One focus of the project is the establishment of a municipal education monitoring system, which is supported by a project-financed staff position: Marina Umaniz is the contact person for education monitoring. Other components include the development of a digital education portal and the participation of relevant actors along the education chain.
