Building communities stand for high-quality, lively, and diverse residential neighborhoods and are a driving force for sustainable neighborhood development. For this reason, the city of Mainz has been supporting building community projects as a new form of housing for over six years by taking them into account in the context of new neighborhoods and construction projects.

In addition, building association projects were funded until the end of 2020 by the "Experimental Housing and Urban Development" program of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

After five years of consulting, the corresponding final report describes the Mainz projects and procedures and, at the same time, translates the technical expertise and experience gained into a guide. This final report and guide was presented to the Ministry of Finance at a press conference on March 10, 2021.
