As part of the Urban Logistics Funding Guideline, sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV), the city of Mainz commissioned the "Urban Logistics Implementation Strategy in Mainz." The relevant stakeholders were involved through expert surveys and two workshops. Professor Bert Leerkamp and his teaching and research group on freight transport planning and transport logistics at the University of Wuppertal were brought on board as experts to help develop the concept.
