ONE BILLION RISING is a global solidarity movement by women for women, initiated in September 2012 by New York artist and feminist Eve Ensler. The campaign calls for an end to violence against women and girls and stands for freedom and equality.
Since then, on February 14 of each year, one billion women and men worldwide are called upon to attend protest rallies and dance against violence.
According to United Nations statistics, one in three women worldwide experiences violence at least once in her lifetime. One in three means one billion women!
