33 calendars with almost 400 insights into the history of women in Mainz: since 1991, the Women's Office has compiled and published a wall calendar every year. To mark the end of the project, all texts from 1991 to 2023 have now been compiled in a 240-page digital reader.

From the outset, the aim was not to add a few "great" women's names to the supposedly "great men" of the city's history or to present women's history as a separate history. The women of Mainz were and always have been part of this city, witnessing developments and stagnation and sometimes influencing them. However, this female contribution to the city's history has rarely been acknowledged and even more rarely recorded. But a city that is so proud of its more than two thousand years of history and traditions simply cannot afford to perceive only half of its history.
