The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council was founded in 1982 at the suggestion of the city council. It represents the interests and acts as a mouthpiece for the older generation. Among other things, it is committed to improving the living conditions of older people.

To this end, it maintains close contact with the municipal authorities, in particular the Office for Social Services, and has an advisory role in all municipal committees and the city council.

Term of office

The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council was reconstituted on October 31, 2024. Its term of office is five years.

  • Christiane Gerhardt from the German Parity Welfare Association was re-elected as chair of the committee.
  • Her deputies are: Franziska Wienzek from the Mainz Adult Education Center and Lothar Both from the German Civil Service Association of Rheinhessen.
