Election workers are deployed on election day as members of the election committees to conduct the election in the polling station. Their tasks include, for example:
- verifying voter eligibility based on the voter register,
- Issuing ballot papers,
- Opening the ballot box for the insertion of ballots,
- Assisting in determining the election results.
The role of election worker is an honorary position. You must perform your duties impartially and are obliged to maintain confidentiality regarding matters that come to your knowledge in the course of your official duties. You may not cover your face while performing your duties.
Election workers are appointed by the municipal election authority. Preference is given to election workers who volunteer for this honorary position.
Volunteer election workers receive an expense allowance (known as "refreshment money") for their work.
The following requirement must be met:
- You must be eligible to vote.
The procedure is as follows:
- You register with the election office.
- The election authority or election committee appoints you to the election board.
